What Do I Have To Do To Be More Psychic Or More Spiritual?

This is a common question that people ask and I can give plenty of answers, and psychic development exercises – that’s what most of my books are about after all! But I believe that there’s a whole lot more to psychic development than simply meditation, exercises and practice. I believe there’s a whole lot more to spiritual growth than working out your own belief system and whether or not you believe in reincarnation.

Being Psychic, Clairvoyant Or A Spiritual Person Is Only A Part Of Who You Are

I believe that these things are completely intertwined with every other part of your life as well. You need to have a balance between everything. There is little point developing your psychic side if you’re stressed out over another area of your life. There are numerous parts of our life that make up the whole; emotional intelligence and our personal relationships, financial concerns and security, self-education and personal development, and our health and well-being, amongst others.

It is our health and well-being that I want to talk about today.

You may not think that our health and fitness has anything to do with our psychic abilities or our spiritual side, but it really does.

If you have ever studied any geography, psychology, sociology or similar social sciences you will have come across Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs. This states that our basic needs must be met before we have the motivation, or strength of desire to focus on the higher level needs, such as self-actualisation, which includes spiritual growth.

We can certainly still pass psychic or clairvoyant messages on to others if our own lives are not as fulfilled as they might be, I’m not questioning that. But I believe that our psychic and spiritual journey is about more than that, in fact, being able to help others is simply a bi-product of our own development and growth. So for our own continued development; emotionally, psychically and spiritually, and in order that we can encourage and inspire others to a more spiritual way of thinking, we should take care of our selves at all levels.

“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear”
Buddha

Additionally, when working with energy, which most psychic and healing work does, we need to ensure that our own energies are robust enough to deal with the challenges it brings mainly through the interactions with others. Our auras need to be as healthy and energised as possible and good health and fitness will help with this.

Healing is often a big part of a lot of people’s spiritual journey and I do think that a healer, or any other energy worker for that matter, has a lot more credence when they look after themselves and treat themselves kindly, with respect and foster a lifestyle and mindset that encourages healing to take place within themselves.

I Have Too Much To Do With My Life To Risk Not Being In Optimum Health!

I still get bugs, and I’m not super-fit, but I do try and take good care of myself with good nutrition, some exercise, fresh air, relaxation time and plenty of sleep. I like to find out about new ideas for keeping fit and healthy but avoid fads, they have to be well researched, sensible and do-able if I’m to try them out. I also check in with my intuition and how my body feels about things too. If I’m intuitively drawn to a particular food, supplement, exercise or something else, then I figure my body knows best. Equally, I may feel nothing, or negative about something so I guess it’s not for me. As an example, I was vegetarian for 21 years and my body was telling me it wanted fish, which was odd as I never really liked fish before I became a vegetarian and really wasn’t comfortable cooking it. I had some kinesiology testing done (without divulging this information to the person doing it) and was told that I should eat fish 3 times a week as I was low in a vital nutrient. While not a science I trust kinesiology and felt this confirmation was enough to introduce a bit of fish into my diet. I soon got used to it (and cooking it) and found that my hair and nails were much stronger for a start!

Also by being in touch with your intuition and being able to connect with your body at this level, you can often get very early warning signs that something isn’t quite right. This means you can take action quickly to get help and advice. It makes healing easier too whether it’s self-healing or that given by someone else.

Some other things I do to try and take care of myself:

  • I rarely eat pre-prepared food (I can’t say never as I would be lying, I quite like a pizza occasionally) so the majority of my meals are prepared from scratch with real veggies, spices and herbs. I hate a ‘beige’ plate with no colour – it tends to indicate lots of starchy carbs and very little fresh veg.
  • I’m not keen on low-fat products, I’d rather have a bit less of the more natural full fat version.
  • I cook with oil – rapeseed or coconut and use olive oil sparingly as a salad dressing. The body needs some oil so I choose what I feel are the best types.
  • I drink at least 2 litres of water most days and rarely have squash, juices or fizzy drinks – again I won’t say never, sometimes a coke is definitely required. Likewise, I like an alcoholic drink occasionally but a couple will do me, and more often than not it’s saved for the weekends.
  • I like my sleep so I make sure I get plenty – a good 8 hours for me please.

We may be spiritual beings in physical form but that’s no reason why we should run our physical bodies into the ground leaving it battered and bruised like an old car that’s been used for racing. When I’m feeling good about myself, fresh, healthy and revitalised, I can do so much more, and I work so much better on all levels, including on my psychic, healing and clairvoyant skills.

In my opinion, we should learn to love and respect our bodies as they are amazing creative things that we get to experience this life through. We should fuel it correctly, drive it caringly, and maintain it lovingly to ensure it’s fit for the road trip of our lives. Then we can really focus on others elements of our lives, live to the full, do all the things we want to do and become the best version of ourselves possible.

Bright Blessings

Helen

P.S. Don’t forget to have some fun too, enjoying life is a key part to leading a balanced and spiritually fulfilled existence.
